Our Story

During the recession, not many entrepreneurs were thinking about starting a remodeling and design company in Michigan. This didn’t stop Colleen from pursuing her dream though. Her intention was to do one kitchen a month, but she would soon realize that with her personal attention to each project and now over 25 years of design knowledge, her company would grow faster than she could imagine.

Soon after starting Dream Kitchens, she was busier than she had ever expected. Colleen hired her son, Jason, to help take on the extra work. She trained him from scratch by each designing a kitchen for the same customer and seeing which design they chose. After some time, his design finally won a customer over and that’s when she knew he was ready to be on his own.

After opening a showroom in Howell, Colleen and Jason needed someone to take care of the other side of a project once the design stage is over. They brought on Nick, Colleen’s other son, to take on this responsibility. With his past remodeling experience and years of working with Dream Kitchens, he took on the scheduling and post-design process of all of the projects

The Howell location would not last though. We soon grew out of it and were on a hunt for a new showroom location which landed our kitchen trio in Brighton. Soon after, Scott and Kristin came aboard designing kitchens. Scott has more than a decade of kitchen design knowledge under his belt and Kristin hails from a background in architecture and interior design; each with their own unique style of design.

Our Dream Team continues to grow. We have recently added Sherry, Ian, Johnathan and Bruce to our team. Their experience and design talents have helped maintain Dream Kitchen’s reputation as the premier kitchen design firm in the area. We always claimed to be a family company with our composition being Colleen and her two sons, but now we have also introduced, Bruce into our mix. Bruce is Jason & Nick’s father, a veteran, and retired with 28 years at UPS and will be taking care of scheduling and logistics.
